Imposter Syndrome Interview

The Women’s Network at ACT Transport Canberra and City Services, in collaboration with ACT Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate, launched the video series Are We Rolling. Held quarterly, each event features a guest speaker covering diverse topics, live-streamed and recorded for the ACT Government.

For the debut episode on International Women’s Day, Abby joined host Melissa Holcroft to explore Imposter Syndrome, how it’s defined, its varied experiences, and ways to harness its positive aspects while assessing its impact on our lives.

Truth or Dare International Weekly Show on My88 Radio

Truth or Dare is Hosted by Madeliene Lobsey on Tuesday afternoons at 2pm. Called Truth or Dare, the intent of the show is ‘daring to be truthful.’

Sharing perspectives on topics and experiences often shared by many, but spoken about infrequently, Abby and Madeliene take turns picking ideas to explore. You’ll hear laughter, the sharing of ‘ah-ha’ moments, topics big ang small and sometimes just banter on the lighter side of life.

If you have a topic you’d like to hear explored, let us know through awesome@punkpd.com.au

Abby’s Awards

Women with Altitude: National Change Maker Award

In Sydney for the awards night, Abby was stunned when PunkPD was named the winner for the Change Maker Award. Her friend even had to nudge her and whisper ‘get up, that’s you. They’ve called you!’

While respecting other accolades completely, Abby feels this particular one holds the most personal and professional value because this one speaks directly to the values and intentions of PunkPD and provides peer and industry recognition of what she’s been able to achieve. Abby’s goal for PunkPD was never to replicate any other company that claims to offer Coaching or Facilitation, but break norms, challenge the status quo, provide ‘inner learning’ journeys and real change.

In her speech, Abby shared: “Winning the Change Maker Award means so much to me, especially this year! I've spent my life dedicated to what I call 'the ministry of change.’ You might say that I’m intentionally in a constant state of evolution, both professionally and personally. As an ‘education junkie’ at the core, I am always learning, implementing, growing, changing, theorising, testing, tweaking….

I've always been the kind of person who makes waves.  I've always been 'too' something.  Too enthusiastic, too progressive, too loud, too ‘much’. But I know it's my ‘muchness’ that makes PunkPD stand out. It’s the cornerstone behind how we've leveraged the change we have and how we will continue to stay a constant, positive disrupter and Change Maker!”

Canberra Women in Business Micro Business Highly Commended

Abby was utterly stoked when only a year into running her company full time, she was recognised through he Canberra Women in Business awards with Highly Commended in the Micro Business of The Year category.

The photo below shows the smile she was unable to wipe from her face and her acceptance speech, which was off-the-cuff and raw, captured by a friend in the audience. The video is not great quality but shows a little of the Punk humour coming through…

Brave Magazine Pieces

After winning the Change Maker award, which recognised Abby for her disruptive approach to her industry and creating a business designed on the concept of ‘being the rebel’, she was asked to be on the cover of Brave.

The Stories we Tell Ourselves

Getting Intentional About Your Next Normal

In this article, written amidst the Covid pandemic, Abby challenges the notion of ‘going back to normal’ and provides a self-coaching framework to consciously and deliberately create our next normal.

Soul Project Radio Interview

Soul Project ABC Radio
00:00 / 08:50

Abby Rees was the key note speaker for the Soul Project, an evening event held at Hotel Realm. The theme of this event was ‘Discover the Art of Taking Flight’ and Abby shared openly and fearlessly her upbringing and how she both honed and harnessed her values through hardship. These values, which are Abby’s core values, are also the core values of PunkPD. She spoke how she strapped on tenacity every day to keep going, even when the destination was unclear; how she refused to dull the energy that in many work places got her dubbed as ‘too much’; and about how her use of the word excellence was unconventional. To Abby, excellence is showing up and allowing ourselves to be transformed by treating every moment in life as something to learn from. This translates to creating cognitively and emotionally active learning journeys for her clients in PunkPD- believing that learning is an inside job, not something that happens through a powerpoint.

Ahead of this event, this was the radio interview that took place on ABC Radio with event organiser and Soul Project inceptor, Lisa Donaldson and Abby Rees.
